May Goals

May goals, 2017

Hello everybody!

Happy May first! Today’s post is more of a personal one since I never write those (though I will be changing that in the future!). I do want this blog to be a way to meet and make new friends, and I know being personal goes along with that 🙂

I want to talk about some of my goals for the month of May and also hear about yours. Reading goal posts on other blogs is something I enjoy  so I thought it would be nice to do one of my own.

Eliminate distractions

Lately I’ve felt like I’ve been living life so distracted. Between social media, online (window) shopping, blogs, work, and the everyday things going on in my life, it’s been so easy to lose focus of what really matters and allow myself to be distracted by a lot of things that don’t. For the month of May, I want to refocus on things that are truly important and limit the distractions. I plan to stay off of Pinterest for the entire month, except to do blog stuff, and just drastically limit my time on the internet in general. Life is too short to spend online!

Start exercising

Our family recently moved and since then, exercise has been almost nonexistent in my life. Not good. I want to work on being a better steward of my body by taking the time to exercise. I also just need the discipline of a regular exercise program/schedule. If anyone has any tips on how to become disciplined about exercising, I would love to hear them! I need all the help I can get 😉

Make more time for reading

I love to read, but it’s not something that’s been a regular part of my schedule in a long time. I want to change that this month and set aside more time to read. My to-read list is about a mile long right now, plus I’m in the middle of about 4 different books. I’d love to be able to mark some of those books off this month. Anyone else love reading? What’s on your list right now? I’m currently reading The Robe by Lloyd C. Douglas, Women of the Word by Jen Wilkins, Mentoring & Modeling by Mark Rasmussen and John Goetsch, and Breaking Free by Beth Moore.

Memorize Hebrews 11:1-20

This goal has been on my list for the past couple months and I’m about halfway there. Memorization is not one of my strong suits, but I believe that memorizing God’s Word should be an essential part of each of our lives. I will be the first to admit that I’ve really struggled to make memorizing God’s Word a priority in my life. I’m hoping that with the minimizing of distractions, I can invest more time in hiding Truth in my heart.

Organize my life

Do you ever feel like your entire life is just a mess? Right now, I need to organize everything from my schedule to my closet to my finances. My goal is to get all of that under control this next month and start my summer clean and organized!

Study the life of Sarah

In memorizing Hebrews 11, I’ve come across the story of Sarah, Abraham’s wife. I find it interesting that she was mentioned in the Hall of Faith. Many times when we think of Sarah, we remember the time when she laughed at God’s promise – definitely not a sign of her faith. I’m working on a blog post about lessons on faith from Sarah’s life, so I want to learn and study more about her and her life. Stay tuned for the post in a couple of weeks!

Start a girl’s Bible study

My sisters and I have been planning and praying for over a month now about starting a Bible study with several of the girls in our church. We are really excited about it and are planning to get it off the ground this month. Also, would anyone be interested in a future post about hosting a girl’s Bible study?

Well, that wraps up my list of goals for this month. It’s not a very long list, but February, March, and April have all been pretty busy months for me, so I’m kind of hoping May will be a little more relaxed. We’ll see how that goes 🙂 I would love to hear about what’s going on with you in the month of May!

Have a wonderful week!

Justine

Hi Justine! I realize I’m reading this post a couple months late, but it struck me how similar some of your goals are to my own! I especially like your goal of memorizing scripture from Hebrews–as a teen, I was involved in a Bible memorization program at my church and learned several chapters of the book of Hebrews. To this day, it’s still one of my favourite books!

    Blessings,
    Emily
